“Between sleeping and waking, the mind is quiet enough to cross into another world— yet awake enough to remember what it finds there.”
The Story Behind the Work
The Hour Between Dreams exists in the mysterious space between sleeping and waking, where time loosens its grip and the imagination begins to wander.
A luminous moon, watchful eye and melting clock suggest a world no longer governed by ordinary rules. The elephant represents memory, resilience and the parts of ourselves that continue traveling with us, even through our dreams. Beyond it, a distant planet and tiled pathway lead the viewer deeper into an unexplained interior landscape.
At the center sits the coffee cup—not simply as a drink, but as a portal. Its rising steam becomes thought, memory and movement, connecting the earthly ritual of coffee with something vast and unknowable.
This painting honors the moments when the mind is quiet enough to cross into another world, yet awake enough to remember what it finds there.
